SEPT. 11, 1999: Serena Williams, 17, celebrates her win over Martina Hingis of Switzerland in the women's final of the U.S. Open at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York. Williams defeated Hingis to win her first US Open title.
