Electrolux Buys GE's Appliances Business

Electrolux AB has agreed to pay $3.3 billion for General Electric Co.'s home appliance division, a move that would put the Swedish group head-to-head with Whirlpool Corp. as the biggest white-goods manufacturer in the U.S.
The deal also allows GE to exit a business it has been eager to sell for years as it tightens its focus on heavy industry and energy.
