Ranbaxy Recalls Generic Lipitor in U.S.

Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd., the India-based generic-drug maker beset by manufacturing-quality problems, has issued another recall of generic versions of the cholesterol drug Lipitor in the U.S. due to a potential dose mix-up.


A Ranbaxy unit recalled from U.S. pharmacies more than 64,000 bottles of 10-milligram tablets of atorvastatin calcium—the generic name for Lipitor's active ingredient—because of the possibility that some bottles contained higher-dose, 20-milligram tablets, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said in...
