Lottery Millionaire Used Winnings to Abuse Kid: Cops

A convicted sex offender who won $10 million with a scratch-off lottery ticket used some of the money to groom a young boy for more abuse, authorities said Monday.

Daniel Snay, 62, is being held on $5 million bail after being charged with molesting a youngster under the age of 14, police in Uxbridge, Mass., said. He pleaded not guilty.

Snay was registered as a Level 3 sex offender when he hit the lottery in 2008.

The boy claims he was abused over a four-year period, starting when he was 10 years old, and that Snay lavished him with gifts, including two ATVs, according to NBC 10.

"Mr. Snay was the recipient of a $10 million dollar lottery award and that windfall aided the commission of the crimes," police said in a statement.

Snay, a father of five who worked as a truck driver, was repeatedly convicted and jailed in the 1970s and 1980s of child molestation.

His attorney did not return a call for comment.
