TODAY'S DAILY DIGIT
A somewhat subjective rating of the day's weather, on a scale of 0 to 10
Some sun, a touch warmer than Saturday, and they say there's a football game in town as well. Not bad for 1st weekend in January!

SPI: 1 (↓) - I won't sugarcoat it. It's not looking good this week for anything more than a flurry.

FORECAST IN DETAIL
Besides maybe a flurry or sprinkle early this morning and/or tonight, it's not looking good for precipitation chances through Wednesday. If it's not going to snow, we might as well get rid of the cold. Indeed, that's exactly what we'll do. After a minor setback in temperatures tomorrow, a significant warming trend is in the forecast for our midweek - a welcome January thaw for most, but a temporary downer for snow lovers trying to keeping up their winter spirits.
Temperatures: Latest D.C. area temperature map. See interactive map on our Weather Wall.
Today (Sunday): A weak shower or flurry may greet the earliest of risers among us this morning. For the rest of the day, however, we should see a decent mix of clouds and sun. Daytime temperatures are near or a touch warmer than yesterday, with highs in the mid-40s to near 50 with a light breeze generally out of the west-southwest.
Confidence: Medium-High
Tonight: Like last night, another weak disturbance works its way through our region tonight. It may bring some light snow to the upslope areas of the Appalachians, and I wouldn't completely rule out a couple flurries or sprinkles making it over the hump into our area. Otherwise, we're looking at a partly cloudy night with lows from the upper 20s in the burbs to the low-to-mid 30s downtown.
Confidence: Medium-High
Keep reading for the forecast through midweek...
Tomorrow (Monday): High pressure returns as many of us head back for a full week of work. Expect plenty of sunshine, but temperatures are slow to respond. Despite a gradual warming of the upper atmosphere, a cool breeze from the north/northwest at the surface limits highs to the low-to-mid 40s.
Confidence: Medium-High
Tomorrow Night: High pressure overhead and clear skies lead to favorable conditions for radiational cooling overnight. Thus, it may be an ice scraper kind of morning. Overnight lows dip into the mid-20s to low 30s (suburbs to city) beneath clear skies.
Confidence: Medium-High
A LOOK AHEAD
A decent warm-up begins on Tuesday. A ridge of high pressure remains overhead leading to plenty of sunshine to enjoy. This time surface temperatures respond in turn, with highs expected in the mid-40s to low 50s. Tranquil conditions continue Tuesday night with mostly clear skies and lows within a few degrees of the freezing mark.
Confidence: Medium-High
A developing storm probably still well to our southwest may throw some clouds our way on Wednesday. Still, we should manage at least partly sunny skies, and light breezes remain mild ones from the southwest, potentially pushing highs well into the 50s!
Confidence: Medium
