Busiest times: Weekdays 5:30 a.m. 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. 5:30 p.m.
Workarounds: DCA's security screening checkpoints are specific to gate areas, so there are none.

Parking
Parking information: 703-417-PARK (24 hours).
Most convenient: Parking garages A, B and C near the corresponding terminals, $20/day. Four electric-vehicle charging stations (8 spaces) on the Ground Level of Daily Garage B.
Least expensive: Economy lot, $14/day. Shuttle to airport. See more options.
Cellphone lot: Located near the end of the "Return to Airport" ramp just beyond Terminal B/C. Follow signs to "Cell Phone Waiting Area." Bear left to enter the lot.
Transportation to/from city
Most convenient: A taxi cab ride to the U.S. Capitol will take 10 -15 minutes and cost about $13.50. Shared shuttle vans also available. See other options.
Least expensive: Metro ride to the U.S. Capitol (Capitol South Metro station) will take about 25 minutes and cost about $2.

Tips and tidbits
DCA has pet relief areas, a USO lounge and an art program that includes floor medallions, murals, stained glass, sculptures, other artworks and performances. The airport is near the former site of Abingdon, a colonial plantation and the birthplace of President George Washington's granddaughter, Eleanor Parke Custis. The Terminal A Exhibit Hall displays artifacts from Abingdon and shares historical information about the area.
Nearby layover option
Gravelly Point Park is popular with plane spotters and is about a 15-minute walk from Terminal C on the Mount Vernon Trail. The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City (170 shops, restaurants) is a five-minute Metro ride. The National Mall (museums, monuments, etc.) is 20 minutes via Metro.
