FORECAST IN DETAIL
Sandy showed us her worst yesterday through last night and now she is left to spin out a slow death pretty close by. We are still contending with rain and occasional wind gusts along with chilly air that is wrapping around the decaying low. I wouldn't even be surprised to see some snowflakes mix in north and west of the city, particularly in the early morning. Slow improvement carries us into Wednesday with partly sunny skies late this week into the weekend. Temperatures stay toward the cool side, featuring highs in the 50s and lows in the 40s this week with some 30s possible this weekend.

Today (Tuesday): Rain continues, especially this morning, with winds from 20-30 mph (mainly from the southwest) along with occasionally higher gusts near 40 mph or so. Snow flakes could mix in at times north and west of the city. Winds and rain recede toward midday and especially afternoon, but mostly cloudy skies remain. Rainfall totals from around sunrise onward should run another .5" to .75" — most of that in the morning. Temperatures hold mostly in the 40s through the day, so wind chills feel like 30s — a bitter pill for October yet.
Confidence: Medium-high
Tonight: It's mostly cloudy with scattered light showers possible. Lows reach the upper 30s to low 40s. Winds from the south still blow at about 10-20 mph.
Confidence: Medium-high

Tomorrow (Wednesday): Mostly cloudy with a slight (20%) risk of a light shower. Warmer temperatures in the low-to-mid 50s, but still on the cool side. Winds from the southwest at 5-15 mph.
Confidence: Medium-high
Tomorrow night: It's cool for the trick-or-treaters, but the weather is worlds better than what we just experienced. Plan on partly cloudy skies with lows from the upper 30s to the middle 40s.
Confidence: Medium-high
A LOOK AHEAD
Thursday and Friday find partly cloudy skies and highs in the 50s as lows dip into the 40s (some 30s in outlying 'burbs north and west of city). The winds should be light and breezy at least despite the cool conditions.
Confidence: Medium
The first weekend of November is shaping up to be a decent one with partly sunny skies and highs in the 50s to maybe 60 as lows dip down to the upper 30s to middle 40s.
Confidence: Medium
