Production resumes on most television series and Broadway stages.
5:15PM EDT October 31. 2012 - New York City's showbiz is returning to some sense of normalcy as the effects of Superstorm Sandy linger.
While power remains out in vast swaths of the city and subway service has yet to be restored, most Broadway shows planned regular Wednesday matinees and evening performances.
Carnegie Hall, near the site of a construction crane left dangling by the storm, has canceled events through Thursday. The Brooklyn Nets' season opener in their new home, the Barclays Center, was canceled for Thursday, and so was Wednesday night's Greenwich Village Halloween Parade, though organizers hope to reschedule it for next week.
Talk and variety shows from The View to The Daily Show are back Wednesday, though some had sparse studio audiences. CBS' Late Show With David Letterman will tape with an audience, after two days without. NBC's Saturday Night Live remains on track for its final pre-election show this weekend with host Louis CK.
And production of some prime-time dramas resumed, to varying degrees.
CBS says dramas Blue Bloods, Elementary and The Good Wife are shooting, though they were confined to interior soundstages, as New York City's film office rescinded outdoor filming permits until "at least" Friday, the mayor's office said.
Warner Bros. says production offices reopened on shows such as CBS' Person of Interest, Golden Boy and CW's The Carrie Diaries, but no cameras are rolling. Instead, schedules are being "reworked" to account for the ban on outdoor filming, says studio spokesman Robert Pietranton. "We are in assessing mode right now."
And NBC's 30 Rock resumed filming today, with Smash and two midseason series due tomorrow. Law Order: SVU, based in hard-hit New Jersey, remains on hiatus.
